Hot Times in The Haute

The Hornes traveled to Indiana last weekend for an Allen family get-together in Terre Haute. Kacy was very excited for her big-girl backpack.
On the way to the first event of the weekend, we stopped at ISU, Boots and GrandDan's alma mater, for some pics.

Photo shoot over; ready for some fun at Aunt Dot's house.

Paxton and Jordan taking a swim.

Kacy and GD playing a little ball.
The newest Allen cousin made his reunion debut: Max Williams.

Corn hole was the game of the weekend. Uncle Mike and Uncle Sam took on Uncle Steve and GD in the first round of fierce competition.

Next up, Nate and Jordan...

...vs Kyle and Dave.
Kacy had some dinner with cousins Paxton and Corbin.

Another food break with Lily and Caitlin.

Samantha and Mamaw.

Kacy tried to give Daddy some pointers on his game.

Uncle Sam, Lacey and Uncle Mike.

Aunt Carol was good for prividing sugar drinks. She's going for favorite aunt award with the next generation.

How this all started: Mamaw and her kids.

Aunt Dot broke out the ice cream and of course there had to be whip cream. Nate just decided to finish off the party bucket.

Cousin Sam (#2) in his tower of inflatables.

Back to ISU on Sunday morning for some more shots.

A little game of tag with Uncle Nate.

We went to Deming Park for a picnic with the fam, and Kacy made a beeline for the train as soon as we got there.

Even Lacey and Nate got in on the fun.

Lacey was the first to give the little whirly cups a go. The verdict: they make you very dizzy.

Nate was next.

Lily and Caitlin on the playground.

The Shake/Durant-Hanson clan took their family pic.

Libby and Lacey.

The weather was fantastic (for Terre Haute in July): low 80s and even better, low humidity. As evidenced by Kacy's hair on the slide.

Caitlin and Kacy enjoying the bouncy seesaw.

Kyle had to take a tun in the whirly cups also.

Kacy says, "Yeah for family reunions!"

Back to the train. Caitlin and Aunt Pam.

Unfortunately Aunt Pam lost her riding buddy when Caitlin found out Kacy was on the train also.

The Allen/Vander Sluis/Horne contingent photo op. Too bad Kacy wasn't cooperative.

The Tennessee Allen clan.

The "official" weekend shot.
Final tally:
1 Mamaw
6 kids/4 spouses
9 grandkids/8 spouses
17 great-grandkids
2 great-great grandkids
Grand total: 46 attendees Allen Reunion 2009

Photo shoot done, back to the train of course.

Sam and Missy taking a ride.

One final trip--Kacy, Dave and Sam.

As if we hadn't had enough to eat over the two days, we went out for pork tenderloins. Very yummy (and good for you too...right.)

Post-dinner, Dave and Nate discovered the boxing machine. Nate scored the new high score on his first punch (photographed). Dave beat that on his first punch, and Nate then proceeded to break 800 on the last punch. For now he holds the title of "Strongest Man in Terre Haute." Dave and Nate have called for a rematch.

Kacy was sad to have to leave on Monday, but it was back to reality for the Horne clan.
